Confrontation 13 is a Dekon script that tells a tragic story of two best friends from different religions and races who have turned their backs on each other during the bloody conflict which involved two ethic groups – Malay and Chinese on 13 May 1969. The uniqueness of this script is that it does not echo the same old tales that have been told, but allows us to see the incident critically through the eyes of Kahar and Ah Hong, the 2 best friends since childhood, and observe how the racist game played by dirty politicians has torn their friendship apart.
Written by Tasia Arlina Ismail, this script has been staged in MAKUM Dekon Festival 2010 and won the Best Dekonis and First Runner Up award. This script has been performed at auditorium of The National Department For Culture And Arts in Kuala Lumpur and National Library of Singapore.
Dekon (declamatory acting) is a genre of performance inspired by Malaysian National Laureate Datuk A. Samad Said and was first introduced to UMS (Univertiti Malaysia Sabah) by Dr. Andika Aziz Hussin in 2000.
